Today’s the day we all get to make the friendship bracelets, don our sequins and cowboy boots, and head to the theaters dressed as our favorite Era. Yes, the Eras Tour movie is out now!
To celebrate, our hosts sat down back in July once all three had seen the show in person to discuss the highs, the higher highs (because there are no lows!), and reflect on what felt like the perfect night.
Check out our Special Episode on the Eras Tour, out now!
If you know of a Swiftie (or non-Swiftie! We’re not exclusive) who may be interested, please consider sharing this email, the podcast, or our social channels.
And, if you’re looking to get a little more extra credit…keep reading for a closer look at our Eras Tour experiences!
This Week’s Extra Credit - Brought to You by Jodi
Swifties knew this tour would we big. Way back in November 2022, when Taylor first announced that she’d be going back on tour, every single Taylor Swift fan knew that this was a concert they had to go to. (I will not even speak about Ticketmaster…I still have PTSD).
No one could have known just how much of a cultural phenomenon the Eras Tour would be come. I’m so glad the tour was filmed and that so many more people will be able to get a glimpse of what it was like to be there. But nothing can truly compare to the feeling of an entire city preparing for this concert.
I was VERY fortunate to have an incredible friend, Carolyn, who got me tickets to the Nashville show. Not only did she get tickets…she got SECOND ROW FROM THE STAGE tickets. (I know—I’m still in shock!) From the moment we got to Nashville, the city was buzzing with Eras tour energy (although I’ll admit, it was hard to discern the sequined cowboy boot clad bachelorette party attendees from the sequined cowboy boot clad Eras tour attendees!)
Attending this concert, even before Taylor took the stage, was like attending Taylor Swift Comic Con. Every single person—from the 70-something year old couple to our right, and the 7-year-old and her mother behind us—was dressed up. The threat of rain deterred absolutely no one (I had a clear poncho at the ready so you could still see my outfit!)
But perhaps the biggest takeaway I have from the Eras Tour—beyond the fact that Taylor Swift has the most incredible stamina and training program I have ever seen—is that the Swiftie community is just that—a community. Now, I have to confess: I hate concerts. I hate the crowds. It’s a crush of bodies and impatient people yelling and signing very off key and I can’t do it. But obviously for Taylor Swift, I’ll do it. And let me tell you: this was the kindest, most empathetic, fun, and engaging crowd EVER! Never have I heard so many people give such authentic and effusive complements! The friendship bracelet trading!? I didn’t make any for the concerts I attended, but Carolyn did make an extra two pairs of rhinestone glasses that she gave out to two ECSTATIC little girls who admired ours. And the pure JOY of seeing someone’s face light up because of a pair of rhinestone glasses? Incredible!
So as Swifties flock to movie theaters across the globe today to see the Eras Tour Movie, I hope that empathetic, effervescent community continues to thrive. This time, I made about 100 AP Taylor Swift friendship bracelets that I’ll be handing out along with AP Taylor Swift stickers, and I cannot wait to trade!
Thanks for doing the extra credit with us today (don’t worry, we don’t grade on a curve!)
